How to Organize Under Your Kitchen Sink

The Most Neglected Storage Space

Under the kitchen sink is one of the most wasted storage areas in any home. Between plumbing pipes, cleaning supplies, and random items, it quickly becomes a chaotic mess. Here is how to organize it efficiently.

Step 1: Empty and Clean

Remove everything. Wipe down all surfaces with a damp cloth. Check for leaks around the pipes — this is also a good time to inspect your drain assembly from below.

Step 2: Categorize

Sort items into three groups: cleaning supplies, spare accessories (extra strainer baskets, sponges), and items that do not belong. Relocate anything that is not related to the sink or cleaning.

Step 3: Use Shelf Risers

Adjustable shelf risers work around pipes to double your usable space. Place frequently used items in front and rarely used items in back.

Step 4: Door Organizers

Mount a small organizer on the inside of the cabinet door for trash bags, scrub brushes, and gloves. This frees up shelf space for larger items.

Step 5: Store Compact Accessories

The Velgrina roll-up drying rack rolls into a compact cylinder that fits perfectly under the sink when not in use. The silicone drying mat folds flat and slides between the shelf riser and cabinet wall.

Maintenance

Reorganize under the sink every three months. Discard expired cleaning products. Check for moisture or leaks. A well-maintained under-sink area prevents pest problems and water damage.
