Dishwasher Safe Kitchen Accessories: The Complete List
Why Dishwasher Safety Matters
Life is too short for hand-washing everything. Dishwasher-safe kitchen accessories save time, ensure consistent sanitization, and make cleanup effortless. But not all materials survive the dishwasher — knowing which ones do helps you buy smarter.
What Makes Something Dishwasher Safe?
Dishwashers use hot water (120-150°F), strong detergent, and water pressure. Materials must resist heat warping, chemical degradation, and water penetration to be truly dishwasher safe.
Velgrina Products That Are Dishwasher Safe
- Stainless Steel Cutting Boards — SS304 steel is completely dishwasher safe. Place on the bottom rack for best results.
- Over-the-Sink Colanders — BPA-free PP material withstands dishwasher temperatures without warping or discoloring.
- Sink Strainer Baskets — all components are dishwasher safe.
- Drain Cover — stainless steel construction handles any dishwasher cycle.
- Silicone Drying Mat — food-grade silicone is dishwasher safe on the top rack.
What Is NOT Dishwasher Safe
The iroko wood cutting board should always be hand-washed. Wood absorbs water during long dishwasher cycles, which can cause warping, cracking, and loss of the natural oil barrier. The stainless steel panel can be removed and dishwashed separately.
Dishwasher Tips
Remove silicone non-slip pads from cutting boards before dishwashing. Place silicone items on the top rack away from the heating element. Run a hot cycle at least once a week for thorough sanitization.
